I Asked AI to Help Me Lose 100 Pounds... Here's the Plan

Last Sunday, I poured myself a cup of coffee, opened my laptop, and started talking to ChatGPT like I was sitting down with a coach. I told it where I was in my journey, what had worked the first two weeks, what hadn't, and what I wanted to accomplish this week. Then I asked it to help me build a plan I could actually live with.

Within minutes, we had mapped out my meals for the week, figured out my macros, created a grocery list, added a few new recipes so I don't get bored eating the same thing every day, and even talked through my workouts. Instead of staring into the refrigerator every evening wondering what to make for dinner, I already knew. Instead of wandering the grocery store buying random things, I had a plan before I ever walked through the door.

If you'd like to see exactly how I did it, including the prompts I used, you can watch this week's video here: https://youtu.be/z1RnVFoyFxE.

Now before you think I've completely lost my mind and handed my life over to a computer, let me be very clear...

AI isn't losing 100 pounds.

I am.

AI isn't passing on the dessert when someone orders ten of them for the table. AI isn't getting me to the gym after a long day at work. AI isn't tracking my macros or getting my steps in. Believe me, if I could figure out a way for it to send a little electric shock every time I drove past the gym, I'd be the first one to sign up.

What AI is doing is taking away all those little decisions that used to wear me out before the week even started. Instead of waking up every morning wondering what I should eat or whether I have the right groceries in the house, I already know the answer. The decisions have been made, and now all I have to do is follow through.

I think that's been one of the biggest lessons for me.

For years, I thought I lacked motivation. Now I'm wondering if I was simply suffering from decision fatigue. Every choice took a little bit of energy, and by the end of the day there wasn't much left. AI hasn't given me more willpower. It's given me a simpler path to follow, and for someone who's trying to lose 100 pounds, that's a pretty big gift.

At Comeback Over 50, I talk about our four pillars: Mindset & Identity, Movement & Strength, Food as Fuel, and Passion, Spirit & Joy. This week, AI is helping me strengthen two of those pillars. It's helping me be intentional about how I fuel my body, and it's helping me create a movement plan that fits into my real life instead of living only in my imagination.

And honestly, I think that's what excites me the most.

This doesn't feel like another diet.

It feels like a system.

A system that I can use next week...and the week after that...and hopefully for the next fifteen months until I'm standing at my daughter's wedding feeling healthier than I have in years.

Maybe your comeback isn't about losing 100 pounds.

Maybe it's changing careers.

Maybe it's rebuilding your confidence after a difficult season.

Maybe it's finally deciding that after years of taking care of everyone else, it's your turn.

Whatever your comeback looks like, I hope you'll come along with me.

Every week I'll share what's working, what isn't, and all the little lessons I'm learning along the way. I don't have all the answers, and I don't pretend to. I'm simply a woman in her sixties who's decided she's not finished becoming the person she was created to be.

My comeback is happening one week at a time.

I hope yours is too.
